You’ve probably seen it in your shower, or while out shopping. The Leaping Bunny Certification isn’t just a cute design for your favorite beauty products. One of the most widely recognized cruelty-free certifications, Leaping Bunny Certified makes it easy for people like yourself to find, and support, cruelty-free companies.
Let’s dive into what Leaping Bunny is, and why it matters.
History of Leaping Bunny Certified
By 1996 cruelty-free shopping had become popular, but finding brands and products that were truly cruelty-free was confusing and misleading. Companies had begun designing their own cruelty-free logos for their packaging, and creating their own definitions of ‘cruelty-free’ or ‘animal friendly’ without 3rd party regulation.
In response, 8 national animal protection groups formed the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) to standardize cruelty-free and launch Leaping Bunny Certified.
The Standard
The criteria for Leaping Bunny is strict. It ensures that all companies that boast the certification are meeting the highest standards with their ingredients and practices.
In short, companies with the certification are free from animal testing at all stages of product development. Brands have to renew their certification annually and be open to independent audits of their supply chain.
They also must set up a supply monitoring system to ensure all suppliers and manufacturers comply with Leaping Bunny criteria.
Clean Beauty
But what does the Leaping Bunny Certification have to do with clean beauty?
Well, in many ways, the two concepts go hand in hand.
Clean beauty is all about using products that are made with natural, non-toxic, and sustainably sourced ingredients – without no harmful chemicals. By choosing certified products, you’re making a positive impact on your health and the planet.
