Introduction

When you create your free Karma Wallet account, we calculate your unique Karma Score – kind of like a credit score for sustainability. But what actually is a Karma Score? How can you get yours?

Let’s talk about it.

Karma Wallet’s data and tools are here to help you understand your personal impact – and learn the truth about company sustainability claims.

We use 30+ third-party data sources mapped to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to rate 20,000+ companies on their social and environmental performance. Each company then gets a score out of 16 on their Company Report.

But we don’t just rate companies.

To give you a complete picture of your personal sustainability, we look at where you’re shopping – then calculate your unique score to showcase the overall impact of your purchases.

Calculating Karma Score

Your unique Karma Score is calculated using your transaction data, the ratings of the companies you shop with, and how much money you spend with those companies.

It represents your average impact over the last year, and is recalculated every month with your Personal Impact Report.

The more you spend on positive impact brands, the better your overall score. Here’s how the scoring works:

Over 75: positive

50-74: neutral

Under 49: negative

About Your Personal Impact Report

Not only does your monthly Personal Impact Report contain your updated Karma Score, but it also includes information on how much cashback you’ve earned recently, and your monthly shopping carbon footprint (which you can then offset!)

It also showcases exactly how your score has changed over the last few months, and lets you look at your transactions to see which brands you shopped with are positive, neutral, or negative.

We believe that knowledge is power. So, we give you all of the information you need every month to make better shopping choices, and support more meaningful brands.

How to Increase Your Karma Score

Increasing your Karma Score means supporting more socially and environmentally conscious companies.

Here’s some of our top tips for increasing your Karma Score!

Analyze Purchases

Start by looking at your past negative and neutral impact purchases on your Personal Impact Report. What negative companies do you shop with? What positive companies do you love?

Find Areas to Improve

Small changes have a big impact. Instead of trying to change all your shopping habits at once, identify a few negative impact purchases you make frequently that are hurting your Karma Score.

Support Better Brands

Explore thousands of rated companies to find alternatives for those negative impact purchases. As you shop more sustainably, your Karma Score will increase!
